About The Course
Five weeks from start-up to scale up, that’s our goal. We’ve designed a course for you to grow yourself and your business. This course is a practical guide to branding and marketing designed for creatives and entrepreneurs. Log on for your live lesson, or catch up in your own time if life gets in the way. Gain insights and support from a mix of group lessons and one-on-one’s with your Instructor. We look forward to seeing you online!

The Syllabus
Module 1: Creativity
In the first module we focus on creativity and its role in solving global problems. We explore the connections between design, strategy, technology, and arts. We discuss innovation, culture and storytelling, their role in human history and their potential as tools for change. Throughout, we’re aiming to provoke your thoughts and develop your creative direction and brand story through varied activities and interactions.
Module 2: Strategy
In this module, we will practice how to think strategically for your business. You will become familiar with how to do user research and how data is shaping the physical and digital world. We particularly focus on the process of product development and service design, in relation to marketing for entrepreneurs. We aim to have you define your audience and complete market research, so that you can apply this in your own context.
Module 3: Branding
In the third module, we retell the history of branding and learn how to apply ‘lean branding’ techniques to grow your business quickly. We learn how tone of language, visuals and iconography can communicate your story to your audience. We will help you create a Minimum Viable Brand that you can go to market with. We also help you develop a style guide and you will learn how to write a creative brief.
Module 4: Marketing
In this module, we help you develop a Go To Market plan that harnesses the power of technology, digital marketing and social media. You will use a variety of tools to validate your ideas and improve their chances of impact. You will think about your audience’s customer journey and design your sales funnel. By the end of this module you will have a plan for how to implement your brand.
Module 5: Growth
Now that you have a Minimum Viable Brand and a Go To Market Strategy, we will make some space for you to focus on the future again. You will think about the kind of life you want to live and the kind of impact you want to make. We will then set SMART goals and make an action plan for you. By the end of this module, you will have a long term vision for the growth of your business and you’ll know exactly what to do next!
Your Instructor
Sofii Mara is a Yuin / Wiradjuri woman born and raised on Gadigal land. She is the Founder of INCOMMON, a creative agency specialising in Digital Transformation and Branding. She is passionate about entrepreneurship and is the Cofounder of Dream Lucid, a festival to inspire and nurture the next generation of Indigenous changemakers.

Preparation: A weekly preparation assignment and readings to complete before class.
Lessons: A lesson to attend each week with a livestream video and shared lesson file.
Homework: A weekly homework assignment, feedback form and one-on-one meeting with your Instructor.
